License the Identity Maestro Server for Active Directory

Article ID: 1639
Last updated: 19 Feb, 2018

When Identity Maestro is first installed, it operates in DEMO mode which permits access to the Administration panel. Identity Maestro will not permit normal Manage, Create, Bulk Create or Self Service features to work.

The Identity Maestro web application must be licensed to enable all the features, and  is licensed by module (Manage, Create, Self-Service, and Bulk Create) to each Directory system that there is a connection for. If a customer adds additional Directory connections, they must contact Identity Maestro to obtain additional licenses.

Identity Maestro for Active Directory environments must have at least one connection to Active Directory.

There are two types of licenses:

  • Trial License - provides full features for all licensed Directories for a fixed period (usually of 15-day duration). Once a trial license expires, all normal features of ServiceControl will cease and the server will revert back to a locked-down DEMO state.

  • Purchase License - provides full features for all licensed modules for all Directory connections.

Identity Maestro is licensed in two steps:

Step 1: Request a License

Identity Maestro is licensed from the “Administration” panel. First, you must first request a license:

  1. Login to Identity Maestro as the delegated administration service account.

  2. In the portal, notice that the footer indicates that Identity Maestro is running in DEMO mode.  Click on the Administration in the menu bar.

  3. In the Administration panel, click on the Options drop-down and select Licenses.

  4. In the “Request License” page:

    • Ensure that the desired modules are selected.
    • Ensure that the Directory systems are displayed and a user count is specified.
    • Ensure that the license type (Trial or Purchase) is selected.
    • Complete the Contact Information form ('*' indicates mandatory fields).

Click Submit. A notification window will appear indicating that a license request was submitted. A license file and activation key will be emailed within working 24 hours. License requests are not processed during evenings or weekends.

Step 2: Apply the License

A license email will be sent to the email address specified in the "Contact Information" section of the license request. Upon receipt:

  1. Save the attached license file to the Identity Maestro server to a suitable location, e.g. c:\Downloads\Identity Maestro.

  2. Login to Identity Maestro as the delegated administration service account.

  3. Click on the Administration in the menu bar.

  4. In the Administration panel, click on the Options drop-down and select Licenses.

  5. Select the "Upload License" tab.  Click the Select button, navigate to and select the license file and click Open.  Click the Upload button to apply the license file.

  6. When prompted, click the Options button and select Apply Settings to apply the license.

  7. Logout and login again.  The DEMO license notification will be removed.

If a trial license has been uploaded, a trial notification will appear in the footer.
